Over £250 Raised From Macmillan Coffee Morning

By Joe Moon, Content & Social Media Executive

Late last month we hosted our annual Macmillan charity coffee morning, with CFH staff encouraged to contribute by baking their very own cakes, sweet treats and savoury delights to be sold on the day.

Taking place in late September, it was our most successful Macmillan bake sale to date, and staff from our Livingston and Radstock sites came together to raise a fantastic total of well over £250 for the cancer support charity. Newbies were more than welcome to contribute, as were expert bakers bringing along existing favourites. Taking place a day apart, our Radstock coffee morning was held on the 25th of September, with the Livingston event organised a day later on the 26th.

Showstopping cakes and biscuits from our Radstock site included Malteser rocky road chunks, lemon drizzle slices and a range of delicious seasonal treats from Made By Millie. Bakers in Livingston came up with their very own moreish desserts and pastries too - among them were generous slices of black forest gateau and chunky chocolate brownies.

Supporting Macmillan

Founded in 1911 as ‘The Society For The Prevention And Relief Of Cancer’, Macmillan have become one of the most recognisable charities in the UK. Supporting those affected by cancer through fundraising activities and the provision of crucial information, they strive to help those affected both directly and indirectly. With a crucial understanding of the social, emotional and practical impacts that cancer has on families and individuals, funds raised for Macmillan are directly invested in research and support programmes.

Since 1990, coffee mornings have been among Macmillan’s largest and most significant fundraising events. Bringing together millions of people from across the UK, in 2023 alone, coffee mornings collectively raised over £18 million in total. Macmillan are diligently supported by volunteer staff across the United Kingdom, working to organise events, raise funds door-to-door and ensure there is an increased awareness of the services the cancer charity continue to provide.
