ISO Management System Audit Success

By Pat Snooks, Group Head of QHS&E

Over the past two weeks, we have been audited against all three of our ISO Management Systems – ISO 9001 Quality Management System; ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and our ISO 27001 Information Security Management System.

Maintaining our ISO standard certifications compliance is vital to our business, ensuring we continue to meet quality, environment, and information security standards. They also provide us with tried and tested methods for best practice and product reliability in every aspect of business operations. They allow us to demonstrate that we are a brand that customers can trust.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System & ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System

The first audit occurred on the 4th October 2023, when BSI external auditors completed remote audits of the Radstock site against our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS).

I am very pleased to be able to tell you that both audits were very successful and that we kept our award standards.

These 2 assessments included a comprehensive examination of the QMS & EMS administration; improvement processes; customer satisfaction; audits; management review; corrective action and objectives and targets. The audit included a tour and examination of the Origination plate-making area and process.

The auditor made special comment and praised the great improvements made within the plate-making room and the environmental improvements achieved with the new plate-making machine (special thanks to Steve Burke, Origination Manager and his team).

The audit also included a review and examination of our Purchasing and Goods In processes which were found to be effective with no problems identified (big thanks to Ian Connor, Logistics Manager and his team).

ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System

The second audit took place between the 9th to the 13th October where BSI external auditor completed a 5 day (yes 5 days!) re-certification audit of the Radstock & Windsor sites against our ISO 27001:2013 Information Security Management System.

I am very pleased to be able to tell you the audit was also very successful, and we have been recommended for continuation of our certification for the next 3 years. This is a great result for a re-certification audit.

This assessment included an audit and comprehensive examination of the whole management system documentation; management review; internal audit program and reports; continuous improvement programs; monitoring and measurement; complaints and corrective actions; site security at both locations; IT Infrastructure; IT development; HR security processes; Information security training & awareness; supplier relationships.

The audit included 2 full days onsite at Radstock with interviews of numerous members of staff from different areas of the business. The audit also included a review and examination of our Cheque Production process and security controls for Pay.UK Cheque Printer Accreditation scheme.

Both myself and Michelle Underwood, Compliance Manager, would sincerely like to thank everyone who participated in the audit over the 5 days (there are far too many to mention by name) for your continued support and hard work helping to maintain our ISO certifications.  The auditor made comments and praised the general information security awareness and knowledge shown by everyone they spoke to over the week.

This is a fantastic result and is testament to everyone’s continued efforts and hard work, and proof that we are “doing the right things” “in the right way”.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support throughout the year in helping to maintain our certifications, which are vital to our business operations.

We think it's incredibly important to maintain these accreditations if you would like to know more about how we stay up to date you can read our blogs on accreditations for the public sector, private sector, Finance industry and Healthcare industry.
